Oscar Isaac has been tapped to portray Solid Snake in Sony’s forthcoming adaptation of the video game series Metal Gear Solid, as reported by Deadline. Isaac is known for his roles as Poe Dameron in the recent Star Wars trilogy and as Duke Leto Atreides in the upcoming film Dune, making him a compelling choice for the iconic character.
Jordan Vogt-Roberts is set to direct the Metal Gear Solid movie, which remains in active development. However, the project has faced significant delays, having been announced by series creator Hideo Kojima as early as 2006. According to Deadline, a production start date has not yet been established, indicating that the film’s release is not imminent.
Isaac’s casting may signal renewed momentum for the adaptation, which has languished in pre-production for years. In a parallel case, the Uncharted movie, another video game adaptation with a lengthy development history, has reportedly begun filming scenes, offering a potential positive precedent for the Metal Gear Solid project.
